I felt slightly better when I found out that that flawless body in the
opening scene of Pretty Woman didn't belong to Julia Roberts. No, the
perfection that the cameras slowly panned from toe to head was Shelley
Michelle, an actress and body double who makes a living off her
perfect figure.
Guess what? Stars on the red carpet aren't all that they appear to be
either. I'm not talking about stand-ins, I'm talking about tricks of
the trade their stylists use to make them seem so otherworldly perfect.
Muscle tone on a skinny bod? Strategically-placed spray tan.
No sweat stains? Botox injections in the armpits.
Flawless figure? Bust to knee girdle.
Cleavage? Tightly wrapped sticky tape.
Glossy tresses? Hair extensions.
So next time you're glancing from the glitz of the small screen down
to the reality of your tattered sweatpants, remember, all you're
missing is a team of stylists. The only thing standing in the way of
you and the red carpet is a little know how and a big entourage.
