Why am I having such a hard time finding the right foundation?

Thu Oct 19 10:34:12 EDT 2006
In summer, I wear my Elizabeth Arden tinted moisturizer with SPF 15
and I'm good to go. My skin glows with healthy moisture and a
gorgeous, summery hint of color. But now, with temperatures dropping
and dry air wreaking havoc on my already dry skin, my tinted
moisturizer isn't cutting it. In an attempt to save a trip to the mall
and a few bucks, I tossed Maybelline foundation into my cart at the
grocery store. It was ten bucks and it won an Allure beauty award, so
I'm thinking, good, this'll do. Nope. I put it on and looked like a
Munch painting. Next trip I grabbed a darker bottle of Revlon. Uh,
hello George Hamilton.
So I'm out over 20 bucks and still haven't found anything good. I'm
making do by mixing serums like some mad chemist. And my boyfriend
pointed out that I now have crow's feet to boot.

I give up. There are some things you just have to splurge on. This
weekend, I'm heading back to the mall, marching up to the Macy's
counter, and plunking down 50 big ones for some foundation that works.
I read about three great new ones to try. And, at the department
store, I'm likely to get a shade that actually matches my skin.

Here are my choices, in random order. Let me know if you've had any
luck:

Vital Radiance Line Softening Makeup

DiorSkin Icone Foundation

Chanel Pro Lumiere Professinal Finish Makeup, which a magazine article
promised would make my crows feet disappear without making my skin
look spackled.
