To test a tee-shirt's SPF, hold it up to a window. Tightly woven dark
fabrics let in less light and offer better sun protection than loose-
woven or pale ones. Wet cloth lowers a garment's SPF too. When in
doubt, slather on sunscreen, and seek out the shade.
