I hate this #@(*$ ring! Do you?

Fri Oct 06 18:52:10 EDT 2006
This is the moment you've been dreaming of since you were a little
girl. Your handsome knight in shining armor, the one who loves you
best in all the world, stands before you with a twinkle in his eye and
a telltale bulge in his breast pocket. He takes your hand, gets down
on one knee, and asks the question you've been longing to hear. You
breathe/whisper/scream at the top of your lungs a heartfelt and
emotional YES.

He reaches into his pocket, slowly removes the little velvet box,
creaks it open, and, wait, that's not the two-carat, platinum-set,
emerald cut stunner you'd imagined. It's...green. It's...an actual
emerald.

Diamond and emerald engagement ring

Do you freak or don't you care? Because, while diamonds will always be
the popular and traditional engagement ring, we're seeing more and
more sapphires, rubies and emeralds taking center stage. Even non-
traditional diamonds like JLo's pink diamond and Pamela Anderson's
yellow diamond are making an appearance lately.

That got me to thinking...would I care what I got? (Yes.) Do you?
Maybe it's shallow to say you'd be disappointed with a non-traditional
ring, but you have to wear it for the rest of your life, after all. If
you are disappointed, should you be able to speak up, or keep mum so
you don't hurt your honey's feelings?

Thrilled or disappointed? Speak up or pipe down? Weigh in.
