Hanna wrote in to say her pet peeve is when chunky apple-style women
wear low-rise jeans and let their flesh roll over the waistband. Good
call, Hanna, but did you know there's a term for it? Yup: it's called
muffin top. Check out more perfect words and phrases at http://www.urbandictionary.com
. Here are some of my faves:
jump the couch: A defining moment when you know someone has gone off
the deep end. Inspired by Tom Cruise's recent behavior on Oprah.
floss: To flaunt expensive merchadise such as iced-out rollies,
Jaguars on triple golds, gem-encrusted pimp goblets, huge whops of
dank hydro, etc.
iPod spamming: The act of downloading more songs than one is actually
planning to listen to. This is usually done by people wishing to raise
the number of songs on their ipod in an attempt to seem cooler than
they actually are.
Googlesearch fan: A person who claims to like a band/artist/author
etc... but in fact can only name works, songs, band members etc... by
searching for them on Google. "I was talking to Jimmy online last
night about Pink Floyd. But I'm sure he doesn't actually like them,
he's just a Googlesearch fan."
dish Jenga: The pile of precariously balanced dishes in a dishrack
that cannot be disturbed lest there be an avalanche of china,
crockery, and silverware. "Don't touch the dish jenga! That's a load-
bearing spoon."
ihaircut: A small change in one's online identity. Comparable to
getting a haircut, shaving, or some other real life change in
appearance. "FushDabi got an ihaircut when he changed the font he sent
messages in."
cellular faux: a social phenomenon wherein which a person acts as
though he is on his cell phone in order to shield himself from
uncomfortable situations.
bag of pants: Useless. As would be a bag of pants, not fulfilling
their function, but just hanging around in a bag.
let me get you a straw: "You're a wuss. Learn to deal." An elaborated
version of the sentiment is found in the phrasing: "Let me get you a
straw so you can SUCK IT UP."
And my personal favorite (not from UrbanDictionary.com):
lingweenie: A person who is afraid to use big words.
