As a publicist, I know just how darn hard it is to get your products
into the editorial pages of a newspaper or magazine. Scoring ink in
one of the women's glossies is the holy grail for us style people, and
a goal we spend much of our time pursuing.
So, fashion companies, why, once you manage to make it into an uber-
pub like Vogue, do you have dead information?
Case in point, my friend e-mailed me for help in finding the white
Calvin Klein one-piece bathing suit worn by Uma Thurman on page 191 of
Vogue's June issue. I googled it, and turns out there are actually
message boards on this suit...no one can find it. Please, if you want
people to buy your merchandise, for God's sake, tell them how and
where to purchase it. And maybe, just maybe, make it easy.
Vogue is not alone...this has happened to me countless times. I read
about a great workout jacket, hot new sandals, a cute pearl pin, and
then the products are not yet in stores, discontinued, sold out, or
only available at the Three Dots store in San Francisco. Aargh.
If anyone has any information on the Calvin Klein...I'm listening.
Luckily, Calvin Klein underwear isn't hard to find.
