I'm so proud of the company I work for. They've teamed up with Dress for Success to offer pearl jewelry to women who are starting over. While the pearls won't make or break a career, we all know how the right jewlery can give us that added boost of confidence, which will carry over into a job interview.
Here's text from the news:
MoonRiverPearls.com, an online pearl jewelry retailer based in Old Lyme, Conn. (www.moonriverpearls.com) today announced it will donate 100 pairs of pearl stud earrings to the Connecticut affiliates of Dress for Success. An international non-profit organization founded in 1997, Dress for Success promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Clients come from homeless shelters, job training programs, educational institutions and domestic violence shelters, among many other organizations.
MoonRiverPearls.com co-founder Peter Cashman, a long-time Connecticut resident and founder of several other Connecticut-based companies, knows first-hand how difficult it can be to get one’s foot in the door in a new company. “Whether you’re just starting out on a career path—or starting over altogether—it’s tough to make the right impression unless you have the right clothes. By providing women in need with professional attire, and offering them ongoing career help, Dress for Success helps women to navigate the path toward a rewarding career. I read about the organization and was so impressed I wanted to help. While jewelry certainly won’t guarantee job placement, classic pearl earrings are the perfect complement to a business suit. Knowing she looks polished and professional can give a woman an added dose of confidence during the interview process. I hope the women who receive our earrings are as thrilled with them as we are to be helping out this wonderful cause.”
The pearl earrings, which retail for $35 a pair, are made with 7mm solid nacre freshwater cultured button pearls set in sterling silver plated in 18k white gold. MoonRiverPearls.com donated an assortment of black and white pearls to flatter all skin types.
“Pearls are truly the perfect finishing touch to any professional look,” said Lindsy Klar, the corporate contributions manager of Dress for Success. “I’m thrilled Moon River Pearls reached out to our organization.”
