Looking for the perfect manicure? I usually have one, and I always get
compliments. I'll share my secrets with you. My nails look great
because I'm a bit of a freak about them, but also because I think
people notice hands and so they should be presentable. And ragged
cuticles and chipped polish don't speak favorably about your hygiene,
I'm afraid.
Here are my top tips for keeping nails suitable for public viewing:
Avoid using your nails as tools. This means no picking, scratching,
digging, popping the top off your diet Coke, etc.
Moisturize right after your hands get wet. Every time. Keep a rich
lotion by your soap, and slather it on.
Keep cuticle oil on your desk and apply a few drops every day. You'll
see an immediate improvement in shine. Looks great on toes too!
Wear rubber gloves when you do chores such as gardening or dishwashing.
Keep nails short and coated with a pink-y polish like Essie's ballet
slippers or Sally Hansen's baguette beige. Strip and reapply at least
twice a week. A top coat will keep polish looking better longer.
These no-brainer tips are simple and fast. Best of all, you won't
think twice when someone asks you to point out something or offers to
shake your hand.
