Think you have to be a Park Avenue Muffy to have a personal shopper?
Think again.
If you're pressed for time or overwhelmed by choices, you can find
assistance in nearly any store. Find a salesperson whose style you
admire, walk up to her, and ask for her help. Tell her your size, what
you're shopping for, what your style is like, and let her bring
clothes to you.
Trust me, this is what she gets paid for. Plus, she is likely way into
fashion if she works at a clothing store. And she knows the
merchandise better than anyone. She knows what's super-flattering,
which pieces look good with which accessories, and what might soon go
on sale.
You'll save tons of time and perhaps wind up with some great pieces
that you would never have considered on your own. (I got a feather-
trimmed shirt at Nordstrom for the holidays that I would never have
chosen, and a blue and cream jacket for work from Ann Taylor Loft that
I walked by three times without a glance, but it looked super-cute on
(the saleswoman insisted I try it).)
And if you're shopping for bras? Forget it, a personal assistant is a
MUST. Get fitted by an expert and the rest of your clothes will look
that much better.
