Perfect Ten

Fri Oct 06 20:14:15 EDT 2006
Why bother wrapping yourself head to toe in the season's smart tweeds,
luscious jewel tones, sumptuous plaids and other gorgeous fall fashion
if the rest of you looks unkempt? Sure, most of us pay attention to
clothes, makeup and hair, but when's the last time you checked on your
hands? It's time to banish ragged cuticles, flaky digits and chipped
nails. I know, it's not easy to keep up. With all the hand washing,
dish washing, clothes washing and other soaking we do, our hands take
a beating, necessitating manicures every few days. But beautiful nails
need not be a hassle, especially if you keep them short and polished
with a sheer pink shade that doesn't show minor chips.

Give yourself a quick manicure with a sheer shade when you're in a
hurry, and you'll always look polished. To prep, remove old polish
with a non-drying remover, scrub your fingers with a sea salt and
mineral oil mixture to smooth and soften, file obvious ragged edges,
then give a coat or two with one of the following chip-forgiving shades:

Sally Hansen DIAMOND STRENGTH(TM) No Chip Nail Color in Radiant Rose.
Find it for about $5 at CVS, Walgreens, and at www.drugstore.com.

Lancome VERNIS MAGNETIC Unfailing Nail Lacquer in Willowy. $14.50 at
Filenes, or go to www.lancome.com.

OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy, a gorgeous sheer white/pink. Find it at www.opi.com

or fine salons.

Essie's ubiquitous Ballet Slippers(TM) or Mademoiselle, www.essie.com

or fine salons.

Unless you can afford the upkeep, save the rich, deep colors of fall
for your toes.
