Win pearls here.
If you follow jewelry news, you may have spotted a recent piece by
Laura Carroll about renowned pearl jeweler Mikimoto's Milano
Collection. Created by Italian designer Lisa Broggian over a period of
several years, the handmade jewelry features South Sea pearls and
gold, aimed at the modern, fun, youthful buyer.
The collection, which features pieces that will set you back from
$2,000 to $10,000, is fresh, gorgeous and modern. Broggian's attempt
to design "fun" jewelry that can go from day to night has obviously
been successful, and her mantra of "never cover the pearl" ensures
that each piece spotlights the gorgeous South Sea pearls she chooses.
(Grown in a big oyster, South Sea pearls are the largest of cultured
pearls...much bigger on average than akoyas and freshwater
pearls...and typically much more expensive).
If you love Mikimoto's Milano Collection but can't quite justify
dropping a few grand on a single peice of jewelry, consider a Lori
Watts piece from Moon River Pearls. Generously priced (and currrently
on sale), you can get a stunning pearl and turquoise collar like the
one below for under $300. www.moonriverpearls.com
